The St Agnes MCG have a core committee which meet regularly to run the conservation group, organise events and work towards the better conservation of St Agnes VMCA and surrounding area.
Chris Whitworth – Chairman
As part of a local family I have been fishing and rockpooling at St.Agnes since childhood. My interests have grown from seabirds and catching fish to all elements of the marine environment and I have been lucky enough to do a lot of diving around the St Agnes VMCA area. I am passionate about ensuring future generations will be able to have as much fun from the sea as I do and think being involved with the Marine Conservation Group is a great way to do this.
Dan Murphy – Secretary
I first got involved in marine conservation through Cornwall Wildlife Trust, specifically the Your Shore project and Seaquest Southwest in October 2009, I have no background in marine biology just an interest in wildlife and a passion to do what I can to protect it.
Through the Your Shore project the volunteers at St Agnes Voluntary Marine Conservation Zone were able to form St Agnes Marine Conservation Group and I volunteered to be their secretary. I’ve learnt so much over the last few years and to be able to share my love of our marine and coastal wildlife with others is a real privilege. It’s always exciting to go down to the rockpools and learn something new or sit out at St Agnes Head and see dolphins or basking sharks, I can’t think of anything I’d rather do with my free time!
